In 1956, Walter Hofner had an idea for an amplified semi-acoustic bass. When it was brought to life, his idea revolutionized popular music, and the historical significance of this instrument has long since been acknowledged.
The Vintage `63 captures the characteristic tone of the original that is best described as deep, warm and reminiscent of a full-size string bass. Built to be as durable as its legacy, the compact-sized, easy-to-play, light-in-weight, full-featured Vintage `63 is equally at home on stage or in the studio.
Other bass makers have emulated the design, but none have duplicated the tone and playing ease that is Hofner's alone. The Vintage `63 Violin Bass offers the same craftsmanship that made the first one a classic, and is available in a right- or left-handed version.
