This Les Paul Custom is a bit of a rare one that we believe was built in 1968 based on the serial number ( 910811 ). Its a one owner guitar in players grade condition and has been refretted. There is a #2 stamped on it under the serial number. The pots are not date coded but stamped with a part number ( CBA-811-1158 ) which is documented as something Gibson did in the 60s occasionally. There are some head scratcher things about it that made it very hard to pinpoint an exact date. There is a volute that is a little big for a normal 68 and the neck is a 3 piece which I think started in 69 so its possible its a 69 that was started and serialized in 68 and finished in 69 to 69 specs. We are trying to be as transparent as possible with this so if you have any info, we are open to listen. The tuners have been changed to Grovers but no holes have been drilled so it is possible to go back to original if so desired. Original period correct tuners can be found online in the 300.00 range. A newer Gibson bridge ( without the rattling wire ) was installed at some point. There is a good amount of wear on the back of the neck, especially along the bottom side as the gentleman that owned it played with a ring on. The neck is a little smaller feeling than your normal fat 68 neck as well. There are no breaks and no other repairs or mods have been done. Now for the good news. Its got ALL the tone and mojo you want and them some! Its been set up with 10s and all the pots have been cleaned and work perfectly, the neck is great on it … the new frets have very little wear on them. It comes with an 80s Gibson Protector case.
We are selling this as a consignment for the original owner who is now in his 90s and has some health issues he is dealing with. We have priced it extremely fair considering all things so the price is firm.
