Steve Kiernan is 30-year veteran of the professional rock n’ roll scene. Working as a full time gigging musician, Steve has seen it all, heard it all, and played it all. From blues and rock standards, to esoteric jazz explorations, and everything in between, there isn’t a lick or solo that Steve hasn’t wrapped his hands around.
Equal to his love of music is his passion for teaching. Steve’s individualized approach to teaching is geared to each student’s desire and ability. Receiving a BA in Music from Western Connecticut State University, as well as a BS in Business from Fairfield University. Steve continued his post-graduate studies and holds a Master of Science in Education from University of New Haven. Steve has several studio recordings to his credit, working as a session guitarist at both local and high-profile studios in NYC.
Steve is never happier then when he is playing live guitar onstage. Whether it’s at popular big city rock club, a small local venue, a private event, the Wolf’s Den at Mohegan Sun, or an ice cream shop in Fairhope, Alabama, Steve simply loves playing guitar in front of an audience. Locally, Steve can be spotted playing in several area bands of all genres and types, where the diversity of his playing is highlighted.
Steve showed a proficiency for music at a young age, beginning with piano then focusing on guitar. Performing a wide array of styles from rock and blues to funk, country, jazz and classical, Steve continues to broaden his musical repertoire after 35 plus years of playing.
